PanAm Qualifier: Canada falls to Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Argentina defeated Canada 8-3, in the second day of play at the WBSC Americas Pan Am Games Qualifier. With the loss, Canada is now even 1-1 in the competition while Argentina climbs to the top of the leaderboard with a 2-0 record.

Canada struggled on both sides of the field scoring only three runs on four hits while allowing eight earned runs on eleven hits over the seven innings of play.

Jacob Robson (Windsor, ON) did everything he could to spark the Canadian offence at the top of the lineup, finishing the day with a 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Matt Lloyd (Okotoks, AB) and Jake Sanford (Dartmouth, NS) collected two extra base hits for the Canadians with a triple and a double, respectively as they both finish their day 1-for-3 at the plate.

Will McAffer (North Vancouver, BC) was the only Canadian pitcher with a scoreless line, working one and two thirds’ innings and permitting only a hit and striking out one.

 

 

Canada will have an off day tomorrow as action will pick back up on Monday when they will face Peru to try to bounce back from the loss.
