50 for 50: Week 9 winner revealed, Week 10 voting begins July 7th

OTTAWA-Week 9 of voting in Baseball Canada’s 50 for 50 contest is complete and our ninth semi-finalist has been determined.

The legend of Stubby Clapp won out and will move on to the semi-final round beginning on July 14th.

To date, we have nine semi-finalists. They are:

- Women’s National Team program begins in 2004

- Canada wins bronze at 1999 Pan Am Games

- Loewen/Francis taken in Top 10 in 2002 MLB Draft

- Canada wins 2011 Pan Am Games gold medal

- National Team Qualifies for 2008 Olympics

- BC’s dominance at Baseball Canada Cup-20 medals in 24 years

- Canada qualifies for 2004 Athens Olympics

- Canada wins gold at 1991 World Youth Championships

- The legend of Stubby Clapp

Week 10 of voting in the preliminary round will begin Monday, July 7th at 12pm ET.

Voters will be able to choose one of the following five choices to join our Week 9 winner in the semi-finals:

Week 10 (Voting: July 7th 12pm ET-July 11th 10am ET)

1) Host Kentville (NS) Wildcats win 1985 Senior Nationals

2) Canada defeats USA in 2006 World Baseball Classic

3) Andrew Albers wins 2011 COPABE Player of the Year

4) Ray Carter-Longest tenured President in Baseball Canada history

5) Canada wins bronze at 2009 IBAF World Cup
