As the opening weekend of the Baseball Canada national championships wind down, the standings begin to paint a better picture of which teams are moving on, and which are going home before the playoff rounds finish Sunday.
By the end of the day Sunday, all champions from the four tournaments will be crowned. First, here’s a look at how we got to the current standings.
18U Championship
The host London Badgers continue to impress, and remain a favourite at the 18U championships. The Badgers have won all five of their games this tournament, including double-digit wins in their two contests on Saturday – 13-3 over Manitoba, and 13-2 over Newfoundland.
Quebec has also put up multiple wins to this point, and are only trailing London by a game due to playing one less game for the tournament. They are 4-0 overall.
Despite not playing their full five games to date, two Quebec players are among the top of the tournament in RBI. Anthony Marcano leads the tournament posting eight RBI, with Remi Patry in tied for second at seven.

13U Western Championship
Four games were underway on Saturday in Spruce Grove, with a birth in the national championship tournament on the line in the two semi-final games.
In the first contest, Abbotsford dropped Sask Five 10-0, giving the BC representatives a birth in the Western championship. All Abbotsford players had either a hit or a walk in the game, including three base on balls for Matthias Meleg.
Camrose will join Abbotsford in the final after they beat Regina in the other semi 6-2. Connor Hoglund’s 2-for-3 day helped propel Camrose into the championship game.

16U Girls Championship
In the lone girls quarterfinal, it was a convincing victory for Nova Scotia over Ontario to give them a birth in a semi. They won 15-9, scoring all 15 of their runs in the first four innings of the game.
Katie Hagen and Brogan MacNeil had two RBI each in the game. They will now move on to play Quebec in a morning semifinal, to see if they will get a chance at gold later Sunday afternoon.

21U Championship
Two quarterfinals began at night, with host Gatineau getting home field advantage on St. Thomas, playing at Parc Sanscartier. They would ultimately lose a close, extra-innings contest, with the Tomcats pulling ahead in the top of the 10th off a Troy Lofgren RBI single.
In the other quarter down the road at RCGT Park in Ottawa, Saskatchewan walked off New Brunswick in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring two runs on back-to-back at bats.https://mobilelegendstool.us/
