Ottawa, ON – Competition is heating up at the three Baseball Canada Championships as teams looked to make a push for the top of the standings on Friday. Québec, Ontario and Regina all remain undefeated with 2-0 records at the 21U Men in Regina, SK. Manitoba and Ontario both sit atop their pools at the 16U Girls in Vaughan, ON with 3-0 and 2-0 records respectively. At the 18U Championship in Sherbrooke, QC, New Brunswick stands alone with a perfect 4-0 record.

18U Championship
Saskatchewan 15 Manitoba 4
Reliever Adam Gerwing (Lake Lenore, SK) was credited with the win allowing 2 earned runs over 3 innings on the mound. Gerwing also provided a big piece of the offensive production going 2 for 5 with a double and a triple and driving in 3 runs.
New Brunswick 12 Nova Scotia 7
Jesse Malone (Memramcook, NB) came up with a game-changing grand slam in the top of the 5th to give New Brunswick the lead that would go on to last them the game. Malone went 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored in the game. Keegan Adshade (Dieppe, NB) also contributed offensively going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Newfoundland 12 Prince Edward Island 8
This one wasn’t decided until the 9th inning when PEI failed to match the 4 runs Newfoundland put up in the top. Michael Lewis (Grand Falls Windsor, NL) was credited with the win allowing 4 hits and no earned runs over 4.1 innings of relief work. Dylan MacKenzie (St. John’s, NL) went 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored in the win.
Ontario Alberta
Reliever Jeremiah Tadeo (Brampton, ON) entered the game in the 1st to settle things down after Ontario’s starter got into a bit of trouble. Tadeo picked up the win striking out 4 over 6.2 innings and allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Tristan Mansfield (Brampton, ON) homered in the contest going 1 for 2 with 5 RBIs.
Québec ’18 8 British Columbia 7
Québec took this one in extra innings after tying it up at 7 in the bottom of 7th. Alexis Latreille’s (St Eustache, QC) walk-off RBI single sealed the deal giving closer Brandon Gravel (Vaudreuil, QC) the win after 2 innings of no-hit baseball.
New Brunswick 18 Manitoba 0
New Brunswick put this one out of reach for Manitoba after 3 innings thanks to big 7-run 1st and an even bigger 3rd putting 10 more on the board. Jesse Malone (Memramcook, NB) was dominant at the plate going 3 for 3 with 2 home runs driving in 6 runs and coming across to score 3 times.
Nova Scotia 7 Prince Edward Island 2
Starting pitcher Brodie Koughan (Cornwall, PE) earned the win in this one allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2. Ryan MacIsaac (Charlottetown, PE) led the offense going 2 for 4 with a triple, 3 RBIs and 1 run scored in the win.
Saskatchewan 18 Newfoundland 5
Starting pitcher Tyler McWillie (Waltrous, SK) tossed a complete game striking out 7 over 5 innings on the mound to earn the win. 4 separate players added 3 RBIs each to the scoresheet including Parker McRae who doubled and scored 3 times.
Québec ’18 12 Alberta 6
Five players came up with multi-hit performances for Québec including Alexis Latreille (St Eustache, QC) who went 3 for 4 and scored 3 runs. Starting pitcher Marcel Maxime Lacasse (Gatineau, QC) earned the win lasting 5.1 innings before closer Jonathan Landry (Levis, QC) entered the game and tossed 1.2 perfect innings.
Québec ’17 9 British Columbia 3
Pierre-Olivier Avoine (Gatineau, QC) was lights out in this one tossing a complete 7 innings and striking out 7 during his time on the mound. Avoine held BC to 4 hits and didn’t allow a single earned run. Martin Vincelli Simard provided some offense going 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs.
21U Men Championship
Ontario 10 New Brunswick 1
Jack Zimmerman (Tecumseh, ON) goes the distance for Ontario striking out 6 over 7 innings and allowing only 1 run on 6 hits to be credited with the win. Colin Robinson (Windsor, ON) provided some run support going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs along with teammate Mitchell Hudvanger who drove in 3 runs of his own.
Québec 8 Manitoba 1
Vincent Dion (Terrebonne, QC) got things going early with a home run to lead off the bottom of the 1st. Sebastiano Scalzo (Laval, QC) was perfect at the plate in the win going 3 for 3 with a double, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Jimmy Chabot (St Eustache, QC) was dominant on the mound allowing only 1 run on 2 hits over 6 innings of work.
Saskatchewan 11 British Columbia 10
Daniel Keck (Lloydminster, SK) was instrumental in the win going 3 for 5 with a double and a home run. Keck drove in 3 while coming across to score 3 times himself. Teammate Adrian Gutierrez (Lloydminster, SK) also provided some valuable offense going 3 for 5 with a double and a triple, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Regina 13 Nova Scotia 5
Nova Scotia sent the game to extras scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th, but Regina cut their comeback short scoring 8 in the top of the 8th. Geordie McDougall (Lumsden, SK) went 1 for 3 driving in 3 runs with 1 run scored to contribute offensively in the win.
16U Girls Invitational
Québec Grey 20 Newfoundland 4
Québec Grey’s pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts over 5 innings, including closer Naomie Bérubé (Boucherville, QC) who K’d 6 batters in just 2 innings on the mound. Chelsea Morgan (L’Ange Gardien, QC) provided some offense going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored as 10 other teammates picked up at least a hit.
British Columbia 10 Alberta 9
Isabella Bortolotto (Nanaimo, BC) was productive at the plate going 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Reliever Allison Schroder (Fruitvale, BC) earned the win striking out 5 over 3.1 innings while also providing some run support going 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs.
Nova Scotia 7 Québec Blue 3
Brogan MacNeil (Sackville, NS) pitched a complete game for Nova Scotia with 5 hits allowed and 5 strikeouts as she was credited with the win. Alexis Amero (Dartmouth, NS) went 2 for 3 with a double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored while teammate Isabelle Ladouceur (Bedford, NS) also doubled going 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Manitoba 22 Saskatchewan 0
The bats came alive in this one for Manitoba. Jamie Johnson (Arborg, MB), Olivia Sheldon (Ste. Rose du Lac, MB), Brittney Langlais (Garson, MB) and Laura Kilbrei (Arborg, MB) added 3 hits each to the scoresheet. Sheldon went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 triples, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Sheldon was also credited with the win striking out 5 batters and giving up only 2 hits over 3.2 innings.
Alberta 17 Newfoundland 2
Starting pitcher Kaitlyn Ross (Redcliff, AB) was dominant on the mound striking out 9 over 4 innings. Ross limited the opposition to 2 runs on 2 hits in the complete game effort. Madison Willan (Edmonton, AB) led the offense going 3 for 3 with a double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Ontario 11 British Columbia 5
Ontario’s 7-run 6th inning really put this one out of reach for BC. Starting pitcher Tess Foreman (Ottawa, ON) earned the win striking out 5 over 3.1 innings of 1-hit baseball. Emily Baxter (Oakville, ON) went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs to provide some run support in the victory.
