Tyson Gillies named Player of the Week

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

OTTAWA – Seattle Mariners prospect and Vancouver, BC native Tyson Gillies was named the California League Player of the Week for the week ending on July 26.

The 20-year-old outfielder has been on a tear as of late, hitting .548 (17-for-31) with two home runs, four RBI, nine runs scored, four stolen bases and a slugging percentage of .742 over his last seven games. Gillies has also registered multi-hit games in eight straight contests.

With his torrid week, Gillies was able to raise his season average to .342, which is the third best in the league. Gillies is also amongst the league leaders in stolen bases (29), on-base percentage (.441) and runs scored (75).

Gillies was part of the World Team at the XM All-Star Futures Game in St. Louis earlier this month. He was 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored in the 7-5 World Team victory.

Player of the Week

Ryan (SK )

Week of July 5, 2010:

Ryan has just completed his second year of the Rally Cap Program and received his blue baseball cap. He enjoys hitting, catching, and making new friends. 'Hats off' to the coaches and organizers of the program.
