Three areas of focus in 2015:

Rebranding of Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) name and logo

Notice anything different about the name “Baseball Sask” and the organization's logo? That’s because Saskatchewan Baseball will be known as Baseball Sask from now on as part of a rebranding strategy.

“2015 will mark the rebrand of what was formerly known as Sask Baseball to Baseball Sask,” said the organization’s executive director, Mike Ramage. “The reason for this change is to go in line with the names of Baseball Canada and the rest of the provincial baseball organizations across the country.

“Along with this (change) we will be launching our new logo, website and clothing line.”

Hosting two Baseball Canada National Championships

Baseball Canada’s flagship event, the Baseball Canada Cup, will be returning to Saskatoon from August 5-10 after the tournament was successfully hosted in the community in 2014. Baseball fans in the prairie province will also be treated to some of the best 21 and under players in the country, as Regina will play host to the 21U National Championship from August 13-17.

“We are very excited to be hosting the 2015 Baseball Canada Cup in Saskatoon and the 21U Baseball Canada Championship in Regina,” added Ramage.

Baseball Sask Academy

Last fall, Baseball Sask launched the “Baseball Sask Academy” in Saskatoon at the Going Yard Baseball Warehouse.

The first semester (September to January) saw 28 players registered, while 26 are currently taking place in the second semester of the program that will run until June.

“The academy gives athletes an opportunity to continue with their day-to-day high school education while also training, daily, in baseball,” explained Ramage. “Our first year was a success and we look forward to growing this program.”
