For fans in St. Thomas, Brandon and Fort McMurray there was plenty of baseball on the day as three different Baseball Canada National Championship events kicked into high gear as play moves into the weekend.
DQ® 13U National Western Championship
In Brandon, Manitoba, James Lawson belted two homers and Jaron Palaschuk had one to lead White Rock (BC) over Saskatoon (SK2), 9-4. Lawson struck out six and went 3-for-4 with a double and triple as BC picked up their second win of the day and moved to 3-0 with a 4-2 win over Red Deer.
Beyond BC, Red Deer, Brandon, Regina and St. Albert all at 2-1, while Oildome and North Winnipeg are still searching for their first wins.
Matthew Murray struck out seven over 5.2 innings on the mound while Tanner Morrow drove in three runs to lead Red Deer (AB2) over Oildome (MB1), 16-8.

In Fort McMurray, BC and Québec each earned two wins on the day for Québec to remain unbeaten at 3-0 while BC sits at 2-1.
Noah Bryerton tossed a complete game to lead BC to an 8-0 blanking of Saskatchewan, while Ryan Dauphinee doubled and drove in two runs in BC’s 6-4 win over New Brunswick.
Québec won a pair of close contests edging New Brunswick 4-3, and later getting home runs from Emile Boies and Frederick Archambault to defeat London by the same score.
In the last game of the day, Quinn Tassie doubled and drove in two runs to lead host Fort McMurray over Manitoba, 7-2.

21 Men’s
After rain postponed most of Thursday’s action the 21U Men’s Championships in St. Thomas, Ontario all teams were in action today with nine games on the schedule.
Nathan Landry tossed a complete game to lead Québec to their first win on the day, 5-1, over Windsor. They improved to 2-0 with a 6-0 win over Nova Scotia where Michel Dagenais hit a three-run double in the second inning.
Newfoundland & Labrador picked up their first win of the tournament with an 8-3 win over Manitoba. Riley King earned the win going 6.1 innings with six strikeouts.
It took eight innings and 17 runs but Oshawa picked up their second win of the day with a 9-8 win over New Brunswick.
Host St. Thomas earned two victories on the day including a 6-5 decision over Saskatchewan where Daniel Lichty drove in two runs.
