Québec wins 21U National Championship

OTTAWA-Less than 12 hours after Québec won the 18U National Championship at home in Magog, their 21U entry matched the feat by defeating BC 11-3 to capture gold at the 21U National Championship in Dartmouth, NS.

Manuel Bouffard (Québec City) got Québec on the board in the top of the second collecting a two RBI singled that scored Samuel Fagnan (Varennes).

Bouffard had a 3-for-4 day at the plate with one RBI, while teammate Miguel Comtois (Repentigny) smacked three doubles and drove in a pair to pace the Québec offence.

After getting up 3-0 after three innings, Québec put the game out of reach in the fourth with a seven run inning. David Glaude (Québec City) hit a two-run double, while Comtois doubled in a run as well.

Québec starter Xavier Tremblay (Jonquiere) was solid on the mound for five innings allowing three runs on five hits and walk to go along with three strikeouts.

BC scored all of their runs via the home run as Shane Wlodarczak (Richmond) smacked a two-run homer in the fourth and Jared Frew (Okotoks, AB) followed with a solo shot in the fifth.

In the bronze medal game, Ontario scored four runs in the first inning and led 7-1 after three en route to an 11-1 win over New Brunswick.

Matt Deneau (Amherstburg) doubled in a run in the first and ended the game with four hits including three doubles and drove in four runs.
