Top 101 Most Influential Canadians in Baseball

OTTAWA- Toronto Sun Baseball Writer and 2012 J.G. Taylor Spink Award recipient, Bob Elliott released his ninth annual Most Influential Canadians in Baseball list last week and there was plenty of Baseball Canada content represented.

Among the Top 101, Baseball Canada Director of National Teams and Head Coach, Greg Hamilton took his customary spot near the top at #11, while Baseball Canada President, Ray Carter, who is entering the final months of his final term of presidency, came in at #41.

Baseball Canada Executive Director Jim Baba, who’s been a mainstay among the Top 100 since the lists inception came in at #67, while Administrative Coordinator Denise Thomas made her debut on the list at #94.

Four Baseball Canada alumni finished among the top 10 including Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto at #3, Pan Am Games hero Pete Orr at #5, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin at #6 and Canadian Baseball legend and National Team Coach Larry Walker at #10.

Additional Baseball Canada alums among the Top 101 include: Stubby Clapp (26), Joe Siddall (39), Justin Morneau (42), Tyler O’Neill (51), Brett Lawrie (55), Josh Naylor (59), Chris Reitsma (59), Adam Loewen (68), Denis Boucher (73), Ryan Dempster (75), Scott Thorman (80), Adam Stern (87) and Rob Ducey (90).
