HOW IT HAPPENED

-Australia jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first as they cashed in a lead off double on a two-out RBI single, while a passed ball and wild pitch brought in another run.
-For the second time in as many games, OF Isaac Deveaux (Montréal, QC) drilled a solo home run over the left field wall. This time he sent a 1-0 offering beyond the fence that came in the bottom of third to put Canada on the scoreboard.
-The Aussies pulled ahead by two in the top of the fifth plating a run on an RBI single up the middle that came with the bases loaded. With one down in the frame a single followed by two walks issued by Canadian starter Michael Brettell (Fonthill, ON) made the bases full.
-Canada made it a one run game again in the seventh when Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, ON) led off the frame with a double down the left field line and scored when Andrew Yerzy (Toronto, ON) cashed him in on a single to centre.
- The Aussies regained their two run lead, however when they scored a run in the eighth on a single to shallow centre dropped into “no man’s land” allowing a runner from third to score. Reliever Matteo Vincelli (Burnaby, BC), who entered the game in the seventh, issued a lead off walk that moved to second on a wild pitch and ended up on third after a ground out.
-With one out and Brad Aldred (Whitby, ON) at the plate, a 3-2 offering wash crushed over the fence in right-centre for a solo homer that brought Canada back to within one run of the lead.

JNT HIGHLIGHTS

-For the second game in a row, Canada slugged two homers with Isaac Deveaux belting a solo shot in the third for his second long ball of the week, while Brad Aldred drilled a solo shot in the eighth.
-William Sierra (Montréal, QC) worked a scoreless inning in the sixth when he took over for starter Michael Brettell. He gave up one hit and registered one strikeout.
-Canadian starter Michael Brettell worked five innings and went through a stretch of three scoreless frames from the second to the fourth where he surrendered a pair of hits, but no runs.
