HOW IT HAPPENED
-Canada Black opened the scoring in the bottom of the third as Jenna Flannigan (Cornwall, ON) drove in Brittany Hicks (Dundas, ON) on an RBI groundout. Hicks had reached on an error before moving to third on a ground out and passed ball.
-Hicks was in the mix again in the fourth as she drove in Kate Psota (Burlington, ON) with a double in the fourth. Psota and Ashley Stephenson (Mississauga, ON) both collected singles in the inning.
-Canada Black added a pair of runs in the fifth as Flannigan scored on a double from Daphnée Gélinas (Repentigny, QC) who then came around to score on a passed ball.
-Vaughan got back into the game in the top half of the sixth plating three runs coming on a pair of walk, two singles and an error. They tied things up in the seventh with a run scoring on an error before Meagan Cornelssen (Grand-Prairie, AB) drove in Gélinas with the game winning run on a single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh.
WNT HIGHLIGHTS
-Canada Black starter Vanessa Riopel (Repentigny, QC) was very effective throughout her entire three-inning outing as she allowed only one single and recorded one strikeout to keep Vaughan off the scoreboard.
-Canada Black collected eight hits in total with Gelinas and Stéphanie Savoie (La Pocatiére, QC) accounting for two apiece, while Brittany Hicks connected for a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Vaughan exploded for four run in the top of the first taking advantage of a walk and three singles, while using their legs to swipe three bases.
-Canada Red answered back in the home half of the second when Jenn Gilroy (Mississauga, ON) drew a one-out walk, stole second and third before she scored on a fielder’s choice.
-After Vaughan added runs in the third and fourth, Canada Red scored twice in the bottom of the fourth as Autumn Mills (London, ON) drove in a run on an RBI ground out before Becky Hartley (White Rock, BC) collected her second RBI of the game on a single to left.
-Hartley walked with one out in the sixth and later came around to score on Meagan Baird’s (Ajax, ON) single up the middle.
WNT HIGHLIGHTS
-Jessica Bérubé (Québec, QC) tossed one scoreless inning of relief and fanned one batter.
-Becky Hartley paced the offence with a 1-for-2 game at the plate and drove in two runs, while Meagan Baird added two hits and drove in one run.
