Action at the Women's Invitational in Windsor, Ontario began today with all five teams on the field. Here's a recap of the events:
Prospects 8 Québec 5
Julia Jodouin drove in four runs as part of a 2-for-3 day at the plate to lead the Prospects squad to an 8-5 win over Québec. Prospects starter Heather Healey worked five innings and struck out one batter to get the win while Allison Shroder worked two scoreless frames in relief and also went 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Catherine Labelle had three hits and drove in a run for Québec.
Alberta 13 BC 6
Alberta pounded-out 17 hits en route to a 13 -6 over western rivals BC. Kelsey Lalor had three of them and she also pitched four innings on the mound with three strikeouts to lead Alberta while Carrie Jesperson, Nicole Luchanski and Madison Willan also contributed three hits apiece. Stacy Fournier drove in three of BC’s runs as part of a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
Ontario 7 Québec 1
Autumn Mills tossed a complete game and struck out six to lead Ontario over Québec, 7-1. Mills contributed a 1-for-4 game at the plate and drove in two runs while Ashley Stephenson went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Ontario jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one and benefitted from seven Québec errors.
Action continues tomorrow with four games scheduled.
