Women’s National Team to hold ID Camp in Winnipeg

OTTAWA-Baseball Canada’s Women’s National Team will hold an Identification (ID) Camp on Wednesday, May 15 at Shaw Park (home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes) in Winnipeg. The tryout is open to any female athlete, 15 years of age or older and is also open to players that are currently involved in softball.

The Women’s National Team has been in existence since 2004 and has captured medals at 4 out of 5 World Cup’s including a bronze medal at the 2012 World Cup in Edmonton, Alberta. 

The purpose of the ID Camp is to evaluate potential National Team candidates to represent Canada at the 2014 World Cup and also the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto where women’s baseball will be featured in for the first time.

Team Canada Manager André Lachance will be in Winnipeg to conduct the camp. Lachance and his staff are looking towards the 2014 World Cup as the next major event on the National Teams calendar, with the Pan Am Games only two years away.

The camp will start at 6:30 pm and will conclude approximately at 9:00 p.m. Players must pre-register by email (full name, return phone number, current age and primary position) to the Baseball Manitoba office, attention Jason Miller, Program Director (baseball.jason@sportmanitoba.ca). Players are responsible for bringing their own equipment. There is no cost to participate at the camp.
