U18 World Cup Qualifier: Canada repeated a dominant performance against Peru

Canada 14-1 Peru

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – The Junior National Team repeated a dominant performance against Peru with a 14-1 victory. This was the second time these two ballclubs matched up against each other in the U18 Americas Baseball World Cup Qualifier, with Canada winning the first meeting 11-1.

Makaio Cisneros (Whitby, ON) was the starter for the Juniors working the full five innings, allowing only one hit and one earned run while striking out six. The right-hander was dominant early on filling up the strike zone and putting up quick zeros against his opponents. Cisneros carried a no-hit bid until the top of the fifth, where he allowed a solo shot that would represent all the offence for Peru on this ballgame.

The Canadian bats were on fire early and often in this one as they scored 14 runs on fourteen hits. Myles Naylor (Mississauga, ON) finished the day a perfect 3-for-3 and five RBI’s as he dispatched a pair of home runs, including a grand slam. Ty Doucette (Dartmouth, NS) smashed a 2-run home run of his own over his 1-for-2 performance. Ty Hamilton (Orleans, ON) was a spark in the middle of the order for the Juniors, collecting three hits in four at bats while driving in three runs.

Canada improved its record to 2-3 as they get set to face Cuba on Saturday, November 12 for their last game of the placement round.
