OTTAWA- If you were wandering around ballparks in Sherwood Park, Alberta in early June, you may have noticed a distinct colour change in the people normally dressed in blue calling balls and strikes at a baseball game. That’s because the umpires at the annual Dave "DOC" Plotsky Memorial Tournament in Sherwood Park were wearing yellow, the official colour of KidSport, an organization that ‘removes financial barriers that prevent kids from playing organized sport.’

OTTAWA- Twenty-eight players have been named to the Junior National Team roster that will travel to Cuba to participate in a nine game series against the Cuban Junior National Team from July 3rd -10th.

OTTAWA- The St. James Assiniboia Minor Baseball Association from Manitoba is the most recent organization to meet the requirements of the Reaching Baseball Ideals (RBI) Program and as such, is now RBI Approved. St. James Assiniboia Minor Baseball is the 14th association in Canada to meet the RBI requirements and also the 4th to do so in Manitoba.
ST. MARYS - Blue Jays' legend and soon-to-be Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Tom Henke's hometown is sending a bus load of supporters to the big city - well, relatively speaking! St. Marys, Ontario, whose population is just over 6,000 may seem like a metropolis in comparison to Taos, Missouri, whose last census counted 869 townsfolk, which represents almost exactly one person per strikeout over the flame throwing closer's career in the Major Leagues.
