Parro to Chair Coaching Committee

OTTAWA- Wayne Parro (Brooklin, ON) is moving on to a different role within Baseball Canada. Parro will chair the newly formed Baseball Canada Coaching Committee. This will be a new role for Parro within Baseball Canada as he just ended a seven year run as an assistant coach with the Women’s National Team. The current Executive Director of Coaches of Canada feels comfortable knowing that the program is headed in the right direction.

“The women’s baseball program has progressed significantly over recent years,” said Parro. “There is a lot of pride and commitment from the players and coaches and this continues to drive the program forward. I am proud to be associated with it!”

Parro is looking to hit the ground running in his new role as Chair of the Coaching Committee and has a clear vision of what this group needs to accomplish.

“I think the most significant role of this committee is to engage the provincial representatives at the policy development stage so that the Board approval process will be much smoother,” explained Parro.  “This is a very forward-thinking perspective for Baseball Canada and it will be integral to timely implementation of programs and ultimately result in continuity of application of these programs across Canada.”

Parro has an extensive coaching background in both baseball and hockey at the high performance level. He is a certified level 4 coach in baseball where he is also a master evaluator and is a High Performance 1 hockey coach. Parro has been instrumental in developing the five-year-old women’s development program in Ontario, which expanded to include a junior team in 2010. The senior team has medaled in all Women’s Nationals, including three gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal. The junior team finished 4th at Women’s Nationals in 2010 in its inaugural season.
