Ottawa, ON – Events got underway across the country on Thursday with Baseball Canada National Championships being held in Alberta, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. With a total of 27 games set to take place today, here’s a recap of some of the action so far:
OTTAWA-World Baseball Classic, Inc. (WBCI) announced today the North American venues and pools for the 2017 World Baseball Classic that has Canada in Pool C in Miami along with defending champion Dominican Republic, Colombia and the United States.

Ottawa, ON –Québec 17’ came out on top at the 18U Championship in Sherbrooke, QC with a 10-7 win over New Brunswick. This year’s gold medalists were ahead by a score of 5-1 on Sunday before the game had to be postponed until Monday. This marks the third consecutive year that Québec wins gold at the 18U Championship and, just like the last two years, they did it in front of the home crowd. New Brunswick was handed their first loss of the tournament in the gold medal game and will take home silver. It was their first appearance in the final of the 18U event in over a decade.
Ottawa, ON – Medals were handed out in both Vaughan, ON and Regina, SK on what was an exciting day at the Baseball Canada Championships. Ontario won gold at the 16U Girls invitational by defeating Manitoba who took silver. British Columbia went home with bronze medals after their win over Nova Scotia. At the 21U Men Championship, Québec edged out the host team to capture gold. Silver went to Regina and bronze to Ontario. In Sherbrooke, the 18U Championship gold medal game has yet to be decided. Québec ’17 led New Brunswick 5-1 in the 2nd inning before the game was suspended due to rain. Action will resume at 12:00PM ET on Monday. Saskatchewan won bronze earlier in the day with their win over Québec ’18.
Ottawa, ON – The semi-final match-ups at all three Baseball Canada Championships are now set for Sunday. At the 18U Championship in Sherbrooke, QC, New Brunswick will face Québec ’18 while Saskatchewan takes on Québec 17’. British Columbia vs Manitoba and Nova Scotia vs Ontario make up the two match-ups in Vaughan, ON at the 16U Girls Invitational. In Regina, SK, Manitoba and Québec as well as Regina and Ontario will both face off for a chance for the chance to play in the finals at the 21U Championship.
Ottawa, ON – Competition is heating up at the three Baseball Canada Championships as teams looked to make a push for the top of the standings on Friday. Québec, Ontario and Regina all remain undefeated with 2-0 records at the 21U Men in Regina, SK. Manitoba and Ontario both sit atop their pools at the 16U Girls in Vaughan, ON with 3-0 and 2-0 records respectively. At the 18U Championship in Sherbrooke, QC, New Brunswick stands alone with a perfect 4-0 record.

Vaughan, ON plays host for the 16U Girls Invitational for the first time while Regina, SK hosts the 21U for the 2nd straight year and Sherbrooke, QC hosts the 18U for a 3rd consecutive time.
