JNT EXTENDED SPRING:  Juniors defeat Nationals in camp finale

WEST PALM BEACH, FL--- Theo Millas (Burnaby, BC) tossed three scoreless innings while relievers Connor O’Halloran (Mississauga, ON) and Viktor Bergeron (Terrebonne, QC) combined for three scoreless frames on the mound as the Junior National Team ended the extended spring training camp with a 4-3 win over a prospects squad from the Washington Nationals organization.

Box Score

The juniors built a 4-0 lead after two innings thanks to a sacrifice fly off the bat of TJ Schofield-Sam (Brampton, ON) in the first inning while an error in the second inning brought in a pair of runs before J-C Masson (Lévis, QC) scored on a wild pitch.

Millas started on the mound and scattered four hits and two walks with three strikeouts over three innings of work before Keegan Pulford-Thorpe (Newmarket, ON) came on for two innings and struck out five while allowing one run on four walks.

In the seventh, the Nationals made things interesting scoring two runs on RBI singles to cut the lead to one but O’Halloran retired six of the seven batters in he faced in the eighth and ninth frames to preserve the victory.

The clubs got some extra work in playing a tenth inning that saw Viktor Bergeron work a three up, three down inning on the mound.
