20 Canadians Selected in Historic Inaugural WPBL Draft

OTTAWA — A historic night for women’s baseball that saw 20 Canadian athletes hear their names called at the inaugural Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL) Draft, marking a landmark moment for the sport in Canada.

A remarkable 14 of the 20 draftees are current or former members of Baseball Canada’s Women’s National Team program, with the remaining prospects earning their opportunity after standout performances at the 2025 WPBL Tryouts and through provincial high-performance pathways.
