Canadian Men's Baseball Team Roster Moves

OTTAWA- Baseball Canada would like to announce that RHP Jasvir Rakkar (North York, ON) and RHP Scott Richmond (Vancouver, BC) have been added to the Canadian Men’s Baseball Team that will represent Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games from July 11th to 19th in Ajax, Ontario.

RHP Colin Kleven (Kamloops, BC), LHP Adam Loewen (Surrey, BC) and RHP Dustin Molleken (Regina, SK) were previously named to the roster, but have since withdrawn.

One spot on the 24-player roster remains open with a decision still pending.

Rakkar, 24, is a member of the Chicago Cubs organization and is currently with their High-A affiliate, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League. In 20 relief appearances with the Pelicans, he has a 1-1 record, a 2.33 ERA and nine saves. He will be participating with Baseball Canada’s National Teams program for the first time.

Richmond, 35, is currently a member of the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association. In 2014, he was a member of the Texas Rangers organization pitching for their Triple-A affiliate, the Round Rock Express. Richmond spent parts of four seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays and is a veteran of the National Teams program having been a member of the 2007 World Cup, 2008 Olympic Qualifier and 2009 World Baseball Classic teams. In 2011, he helped Canada capture the gold medal at the Pan Am Games and a bronze medal at the World Cup.

The Canadian Men’s National Baseball Team will compete at the Americas Baseball Festival from July 6-8 in Cary, North Carolina before opening the Pan American Games on July 11th against the Dominican Republic at President’s Choice Ajax Pan Am Ballpark.
