Six Canadians named to MLB Trailblazer Series

OTTAWA – Major League Baseball recently announced participants for the third annual Trailblazer Series and among the group named are six Canadian athletes who will attend the event in Compton, California from April 11 – 13.

Staged to coincide with Jackie Robinson Day Weekend festivities, the Trailblazer Series features approximately 100 female athletes ages 11-13 that will receive world-class baseball instruction, unique educational opportunities while competing in competitive tournament play over the course of four days.

Special guests set to appear at the event include alumni of All-American Girls Professional Baseball League: Maybelle “Mae” Blair, Shirley “Hustle” Burkovich & Jeneane Lesko, MLB Senior Vice-President of Baseball & Softball Development Kim Ng along with members of the United States Women’s National Team who will serve as guest instructors.

Participants are also scheduled to attend the Los Angeles Dodgers/Milwaukee Brewers game at Dodger Stadium on April 12.
