OTTAWA - Canada will open play at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup against Korea on September 9th at LECOM Park in Bradenton, Florida as the international federation today announced the schedule for the event that will take place in Bradenton and Sarasota from September 9- 18.
Canada will compete in Group A and play against Brazil (Sept. 10), Netherlands (Sept. 11), USA (Sept. 12) and South Africa (Sept. 13) in opening round action.
Group B features defending champion Chinese Taipei along with Japan, Mexico, Australia, Panama and Italy.
The top three teams from Group A will play the top three teams from Group B in the Super Round from September 15-17, with the top two teams meeting For the title of World Champion on September 18.
Prior to the tournament, Canada will hold a selection camp in Ajax, Ontario from August 20-29 before traveling to Dunedin, Florida for pre-tournament preparations from September 1 -7 including games against USA (Sept. 4 in Bradenton), Australia (Sept. 5 in Bradenton) and Chinese Taipei (Sept. 6 in Dunedin).
