Junior National Team: Baseball Canada announces Dominican MLB Academy Tour invitees

OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of 30 athletes who’ve been invited to attend the Junior National Team’s Dominican MLB Academy Tour from May 11 - 21.

The squad will play 16 games over 11 days against professional players that will be participating in the Dominican Summer League this season.

Opponents include: the San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.

“From a Junior National Team program perspective, we’re really looking forward to resuming the Dominican Academy Tour after missing out the last two years,” said Director of National Teams and Head Coach Greg Hamilton. “The tour is a valuable component of our program both from player and team development aspects.”

Joining Hamilton on the coaching staff are a group of former national team players and pros in Cole Armstrong, Pete Orr and Chris Reitsma.

Left-Handed pitcher Félix Morin (Québec, QC) has been added to the Junior National Team roster while all other players named to the roster participated in the spring training camp last month in West Palm Beach.
