Americas Masters Games looking for teams/players

The 2016 Americas Masters Games Committee is welcoming over 7500 athletes to Vancouver, British Columbia for some friendly competition, a cultural sporting experience in an Olympic-like event, and the opportunity to be a visitor in a world-class tourist destination.  Competition starts on Friday, August 26th, Opening Ceremonies are on Saturday, August 27th, and Closing Ceremonies will be on Sunday, September 4th.

Baseball Divisions and Dates of Competition

45+ Division – Friday, August 26th, 2016 to Wednesday, August 31st, 2016
55+ Division – Sunday, August 28th, 2016 to Friday, September 2nd, 2016

Individual Players – We will include an option for individual players to apply to join teams in the tournament.  Events in Arizona and CNOBF tournaments in Canada have this provision – there may be individual players who just want to play in the tournament.

Preliminary Games – At least four games will be guaranteed during this part of the competition, possibly five depending upon the number of teams.

Medal Round Games – The playoff round will culminate with two medal final games.  The championship game will determine Gold and Silver medalists, while the Bronze medal game will involve the two unsuccessful semi-finalists.

Playing Rules – The hosting committee sets the age divisions and establishes the playing rules.  We are expected to include playing rules that take into consideration the philosophy of the games, the ages of the players, and the financial and time commitments necessary to participate in the Games – All players are entitled to generous playing time – they are not here to sit on the bench.  Playing rules will be published prior to the Americas Masters Games, likely February, 2016.

Registration – All participants, whether in individual or team events, must register as individual Games athletes.  Registration fees are $231CDN ($172US) taxes included.  Teams will be rostered through the registration process.  Teams should plan on a minimum roster of 15 players.  Individuals from the player pool may be added to fill out.  Registration is now open and closing date is July 29th, 2016.  Teams are encouraged to register early to guarantee a spot and to be eligible for accommodation and event special offers.
