Baseball Canada Announces JNT Roster for Summer Tour

OTTAWA- Baseball Canada has announced the 25-man roster that will participate in the annual Summer Tour, which will serve as a tune-up to the World Junior Baseball Championships being held in Thunder Bay, ON from July 23rd -August 1st.

The roster includes recent first round draft pick Kellin Deglan (Langley, BC) who was selected by the Texas Rangers 22nd overall. The roster also includes 10 additional players who were recently selected in the annual MLB Draft.

The JNT will convene in Toronto for some brief training sessions before beginning the first leg of their tour, starting in the north eastern part of the United States.

Beginning in Laconia, NH the JNT will square off against the Laconia Muscrats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The JNT will then meet 4 other clubs from the NECBL including: the Lowell All-Americans, North Adams Steeple Cats, Danbury Westerners and New Bedford Bay Sox. Also included on the schedule is a game against the Torrington Titans of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.

The JNT will then head to St.Paul, MN where they will face Team USA twice as well as the Twin City High School All-Stars. Following these 3 contests the JNT will conclude their pre-worlds tour by making the short trek to St.Cloud,MN to play Team USA once again followed by match-up with Taiwan.

At the end of the tour, the Junior National Team will reduce its roster to 20 players for the World Junior Baseball Championship.

At the World Junior Baseball Championship in Thunder Bay, the JNT will be placed in a pool with Cuba, the Czech Republic, Panama, the Netherlands and Korea.
