OTTAWA- Shawn Bowman (Port Moody, BC) had an exceptional week at the plate as a member of the Chinandega Tigers of the Nicaraguan Professional Baseball League (NPBL). Bowman’s hot bat earned him the offensive player of the week for the period of November 9th to 14th.
During this time, Bowman helped the Tigers win five out six games by going 14-for-23 (.609) including two doubles, two homeruns and seven RBI. Bowman also contributed to the Tigers success by scoring five runs and slugging .957.
Fresh off competing for Canada at the recent Pan Am Games qualifier in Puerto Rico, Bowman has taken the NPBL by storm, leading the circuit in hits (20) and is second in batting average (.417). Joining Bowman on the Tigers is fellow National Team member SS Jonathan Malo (Joliette, QC).
Bowman spent the past season with the Toronto Blue Jays Double A affiliate in New Hampshire where he belted 22 homers with 69 RBI’s and was named an Eastern League All-Star.
