Junior National Team: Baseball Canada announces spring training camp invitees

OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of 36 athletes who’ve been invited to attend the Junior National Team’s Spring Training Camp from April 13-23 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The 11-day camp will take place at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches and surrounding complex where the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals house their spring training and player development facilities.

The camp includes daily workouts and games including six contests against prospect squads from the Astros and Nationals organizations while the remainder of games will be against the Fort Lauderdale Stars along with intrasquad matchups.

Thirty-four of the 36 players invited to camp participated in Junior National Team camps in 2021 while Delta, BC’s Carson Latimer and London, Ontario’s Carson Lumley have been added to the roster.

The spring training camp will be the first Junior National Team event of 2022 as the squad begins preparations towards participation in the 2022 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup In Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida next September.

“We’re really excited from a program perspective to work with this group of talented players,” said Head Coach and Director of Men’s National Teams Greg Hamilton. “The spring training camp provides an excellent opportunity to evaluate and develop players in a competitive environment while offering them glimpse into the higher levels of the game.”

Joining Hamilton on the coaching staff are a group of former national team players and pros that includes TJ Burton, Rob Butler, Pete Orr, Chris Reitsma and Andy Stewart.
