National Championship host sites announced

OTTAWA- Earlier this month, at the annual Baseball Canada Fall Convention in Saskatoon, the National Championships committee had the difficult task of determining hosts for six future National Championship tournaments.

Potential hosts put forth exceptional bids and in the end, six championships were awarded to the following hosts:

  • 2016 – 13U National –London, ON
  • 2016 – 13U National Atlantic –Mount Pearl, NL
  • 2016 – Senior Women –Red Deer, AB
  • 2017 – 18U –London, ON
  • 2017 – 21U Men –Gatineau/Ottawa, QC
  • 2017 – Senior Men –Victoria, BC

Baseball Canada also added an 11th National Championship to the fold as the introduction of a 21U Women’s Invitational is planned for 2016 at a to be announced site.

Hosts for the other ten 2016 championships have now been selected although a host location for the 13U National Western Championship in Saskatchewan is still to be determined.

Hosts for three 2016 events were determined in Saskatoon. The 13U National Championships will return to London, Ontario after taking place in the Forrest City in 2014. The 13U National Atlantic event will take place in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, while the Senior Women Invitational heads to Red Deer, Alberta where 18 players from the event will be selected to represent Canada at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in South Korea.

Three 2017 hosts were also decided in Saskatoon. The 18U event will take place in London, Ontario, while the 21U Men event heads to the Gatineau/Ottawa region. The ever-popular Senior Men championship will be played in Victoria, British Columbia in 2017.

Some 2017 and 2018 National Championships are still looking for hosts.
