HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Aussies used a two-out RBI single to right field in the bottom of the third to plate a run from third base. Right fielder Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, ON) gunned a runner down at home plate, who was trying to score from second, to end the inning. Canadian starter Josh Burgmann  (Nanaimo, BC) got into trouble early as a pair of single followed by a walk loaded the bases before he got a 1-2-3 double play ball.

-With one out and Kobe Hyland (Spruce Grove, AB) on first base in the top of the third, Royce Ando (Mississauga, ON) sent a 2-1 pitch over the wall in left for his second home run of the week that put Canada up by a run.

-The Aussies got the run right back in the home half of the third when a run scored from second base on a ball that got by SS Adam Hall (London, ON) that went for an error. A leadoff single followed by a sacrifice bunt had moved the runner into scoring position.

-Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, ON) put Canada back on top in the fourth when he launched a 0-1 offering over the wall in left.

-Just like they did in the third, the Aussies matched Canada’s output in the fourth and added another run to take a 4-3 lead. With the bases loaded a ball up the middle handcuffed Hall that brought in one run before another came in when Burgmann issued a wild pitch.

-After a pair of scoreless frames, the Aussies took advantage of the fifth Canadian error in the seventh that saw a run score on a sacrifice fly to centerfield. An error by third baseman Kobe Hyland allowed the leadoff runner to get aboard before a single and walk issued by reliever Mathieu Deneault-Gauthier (Candiac, QC) loaded the bases.

-Australia put the icing on the cake with three more runs in the eighth. A one out single followed by a pair of two out walks all came around to score on a triple to the gap in right field.

JNT HIGHLIGHTS

-Royce Ando is enjoying a power surge this week as belted his second long ball of the series that put Canada in front, albeit temporarily, in the third inning. Demi Orimoloye, who has six homers with the Arizona Rookie League Brewers this season, collected his first homer of the series with a solo shot in the fourth.

-Starter Josh Burgmann was charged with only one earned run during four and one-third innings of work. The right-hander scattered six hits and three walks, and struck out three batters.

-Prior to the three-run triple in the eighth, reliever Mathieu Deneault-Gauthier turned in two and one-third innings without surrendering an earned run. He gave up three hits and three walks, and fanned two batters.
