WBSC Youth Virtual Festival targets U10 to U18 athletes

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) recently announced that it’s joining other sport organizations around the world to deliver a Virtual Youth Festival for athletes U10 to U18.

“United Through Sports’ Virtual Youth Festival is a great and timely initiative that will excite the baseball and softball community, which features millions of young athletes across more than 140 countries and territories around the world, said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari in a statement. “Baseball and softball players are some of the best and most coordinated athletes in the world and this Virtual Youth Festival will definitely appeal to them.”

The festival aims to engage young people from around the world in a virtual online sport and talent competition in five age categories, including U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18.

‘MAX FIT’: This competition will focus on contestants’ strength, power and stamina and will be competed live in a virtual arena.

‘AERO FIT’: Max. 3-minute choreographed sequence to music.

‘ALL ABILITIES’: In Partnership with the IPC and Special Olympics, this category is for anybody regardless of ability, giving all youth a chance to compete and join in the fun.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

September 1-25: Baseball and softball players can compete against athletes from other sports by recording a video of themselves doing the challenges and then submitting it to the WBSC via its OTT platform (GameTime.sport) email or tagging @gametime.sport on social media.

October 1-14: Videos will then be reviewed by a panel of judges with four people from each age category (20 participants in total) progressing to the final.

The UTS Virtual Youth Festival Finals will be hosted in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 20, 2020 to coincide with World Children’s Day.
