Braves too much for juniors

ORLANDO-The Atlanta Braves prospects scored fourteen runs on seventeen hits and held the Junior National Team to only three hits as they cruised to a 14-0 win at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

The Braves jumped on starter Jason Tarapasky (Pierrefonds, QC) in the bottom of the second when they scored three runs on four hits.

Things didn’t get much better for Tarapasky and the juniors in the third as a three-run homer made it 6-0 after three innings.

Other than giving up two runs in the fifth, reliever Adam Jafine (Toronto, ON) had a solid outing as he struck out three, while giving up four hits and one walk in three innings of work.

Offensively, the juniors weren’t able to get anything going as Malik Collymore (Mississauga, ON), Lachlan Fontaine (North Vancouver, BC) and Gareth Morgan (Toronto, ON) were the only players to record a hit.

Morgan has hit safely in all five Fall Instructional League games heading into tomorrow’s finale.

Connor Noble (Vancouver, BC) came on for the final two innings and gave up six runs on six hits, while fanning two batters.

Notes: The juniors will end the Fall Instructional League Camp tomorrow when they travel to DeLand, FL to take on Stetson University…Cal Quantrill (Port Hope, ON) is expected to start and you can follow the game LIVE by visiting: http://www.gohatters.com/liveStats/liveStats.dbml?SPSID=69238&SPID=6736&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=14600&LIST_SPORT_ID=M_BASEBALL
