OTTAWA-COPABE (Confederacy Pan American Baseball) has named Baseball Canada the Federation of the Year for 2011 and named National Team player Andrew Albers (North Battleford, SK) as its Senior Male Athlete of the Year for 2011.
St. Petersburg, FL-Sean Jamieson (Kitchener, ON) and Brock Kjeldgaard (London, ON) each homered as Canada cruised to a 12-0 victory over St. Petersburg College in exhibition play.
OTTAWA-Baseball Canada announced today twenty-eight players that will represent Canada at the World Baseball Classic Qualifier September 20th-24th in Regensburg, Germany. Canada will compete against the Czech Republic, Great Britain and host Germany for a spot in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
OTTAWA – Fredericton handed Charlottetown their first and only loss of Peewee Atlantic Championship with a dramatic walk-off win the bottom of the seventh inning. Fredericton scored two runs to grab the win after giving up the lead only an inning earlier.
Seoul, Korea- In the end it just wasn’t meant to be for the Canadian Junior National Team as they dropped a 6-2 decision to the United States in the gold medal game at the IBAF 18U World Championships.
OTTAWA – If yesterday’s semi-finals are any indication of what’s to come, then Sunday’s championship will go down to the wire. Both Charlottetown and Fredericton managed to squeak out wins in two thrilling games. Both teams have combined for only one loss throughout the tournament, and will be looking to take home the trophy to their respective cities.
Seoul, Korea- For the first time since 1991, Canada will play for gold at the IBAF 18U World Baseball Championship.
OTTAWA – The Peewee Atlantic Championships kicked off its first day with four games. The four games today along with Friday’s schedule are all round-robin games that will determine the standings heading in to Saturday’s placement games and semi-final matchups.
Seoul, Korea- Despite a 9-3 loss to host South Korea, Canada has booked a ticket to Saturday’s gold medal game at the IBAF 18U World Baseball Championship.
OTTAWA – Day 2 concluded with four round-robin games played. The remaining portion of round-robin play will finish tomorrow morning, with the placement games and semi-finals to be played in the afternoon and evening.
